Privacy Policy

Summary

Vera MGRS is designed with privacy at its core. All coordinate calculations run on-device. There are no user accounts, no analytics, and no third-party tracking. This website does not use cookies or browser fingerprinting.

The App

Vera MGRS stores your waypoints and routes locally on your device. The app does not transmit location data to our servers. Details on features that handle your data:

  • Reverse geocoding: Optionally sends coordinates to Apple to resolve place names. Controlled by a setting you can disable.
  • Location services: GPS coordinates are processed on-device. Location is accessed while the app is open, and in the background only during active navigation to keep the Lock Screen display current (iOS shows the standard blue indicator).
  • On-device storage: Waypoints and routes are stored locally using SwiftData. You choose the storage mode: optional iCloud sync through your own private iCloud database — never our servers — or an Encrypted local-only mode using iOS Complete file protection.
  • Sharing: When you share coordinates, content is passed to the system share sheet. We do not intercept or log shared data.

Website — Information We Collect

Standard server logs capture:

  • IP addresses
  • Request timestamps
  • URLs and query parameters
  • HTTP headers (User-Agent, Referer, etc.)

Coordinate Converter

The "Try It Now" feature on this website sends your browser's reported coordinates to our server for conversion using GeographicLib. We do not store or log the coordinates submitted for conversion.

Local Storage

This website uses browser localStorage to save your display preferences (theme and language). This data stays on your device and is never sent to our servers.

Third Parties

We do not use cookies, browser fingerprinting, or third-party analytics services. We do not embed third-party scripts or tracking pixels. We do not sell personal data.

Data Retention

Server logs may be retained indefinitely.

Your Rights

You have the right to not use this service. If you require specific privacy protections, please contact the service administrator.

Changes to This Policy

The operator reserves the right to modify this policy at any time. Continued use constitutes acceptance of updates.
